Headshot for Meaghan Stewart

Meaghan Stewart

Meaghan has been performing on Canberra stages since 2017, starting off with the tour-de-force role of Mrs Lovett in Sweeney Todd (Dramatic Productions, 2017) for which she won a CAT Award.
Since then, Meaghan has continued treading the Canberra boards, as Ali in Free-Rain’s 2021 production of Mamma Mia!; and in 2022 as Michelle in Alchemy Production’s The Boys; Eliza in Tempo’s production of Pygmalion; Meg in REP’s Crimes of the Heart; and as The Cowardly Lion in Ickle Pickle’s The Wizard of Oz.
Last year, she made her ACT Hub debut as Sandy Tyrell in Hayfever, and she also played a multitude of roles in Free-Rain’s Spamalot at The Q. This year, she enjoyed the challenge of taking on her first Chekhov play as Masha in Chaika Theatre Company’s Seagull, followed by the role of Stella in Free-Rain’s A Streetcar Named Desire, both at ACT Hub.
Now, she takes on the daunting task of playing Judy Garland in The Boy from Oz. The challenge of this piece is to capture the essence and spirit of Judy, without falling into imitation or replication. She hopes to bring a glimpse of Judy’s tenacity and fragility to the audience in this rollercoaster ride of a show.
