Janie has performed in theatre restaurants, cabarets and theatre productions in Canberra and the USA over the last 40 years. Most recent appearances include Mrs Wilkinson in Free-Rain’s Billy Elliot and Jeannette in Last of the Red Hot Lovers with Canberra REP. Janie has also performed in shows at ACT Hub, including The Importance of Being Earnest and Steel Magnolias.
Some memorable roles include Lita Encore in Ruthless, Diva in Priscilla Queen of the Desert, and Charity Hope Valentine in Sweet Charity for which Janie received a CAT Award for Best Actress in a Musical. Other highlights include Ursula in The Little Mermaid, Sally Bowles in Cabaret, Muzzy in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Demeter in Cats, Anita in West Side Story, Madame Thenardier in Les Miserables and Maggie in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
Another highlight was appearing for stadium audiences in Canberra and Wollongong in We Will Rock You. Janie was also one-third of Canberra-based vocal trio ‘The Stilettos’ for more than a decade. She is delighted for this second chance to perform in The Boy from Oz, having played the role of Judy Garland in Philo’s 2010 production of the show.
