Auditions – Sweet Charity
17 September 2024Free-Rain Theatre is delighted to announce that we will be presenting ‘Sweet Charity’ at The Q, with performances from Tuesday 29 April to Sunday 18 May 2025.
Auditions will be held Mon 14 and Mon 21 October 2024 at the Cook Community Hub.

Based on the original screenplay by Federico Fellini, Tullio Pinelli and Ennio Flaiano.
Produce for the Broadway stage by Fryer, Carr and Harris.
Conceived, Staged and Choreographed by Bob Fosse.

Sweet Charity follows the adventures of Charity Hope Valentine, a hopeful dance hall hostess who is looking for love and a better life. Despite disappointments in her romantic endeavours, Charity remains resilient and continues to search for her happily ever after. Sweet Charity touches on themes of self-discovery, friendship, and the pursuit of dreams.
With a score by Cy Coleman, book by Neil Simon, and original choreography by Bob Fosse, Charity’s adventurous journey towards love is marked by some of the best-loved songs (If My Friends Could See Me Now, There’s Gotta Be Something Better Than This) and most iconic dance numbers (Big Spender, Rich Man’s Frug, Rhythm of Life) in Broadway history.

Callbacks
Date has changed. No longer on Monday 28th October.
(Rescheduled to accommodate those with other theatre commitments)
Now on Monday 4th November, 6.30pm final auditions, followed by callbacks as required.

ENSEMBLE including understudies and swings, plus approximately 25 (yes! twenty-five!!) speaking roles across 19 scenes. These include: Charlie; Passerby, Young Man; Married Woman and Man; Ice Creamer Vendor; Baseball Player; Man with a Dog; Spanish Young Man; Dirty Old Man; First and Second Cop; Marvin; Manfred; Doorman; to name just a few.
Please note: As there are so many speaking roles required, Ensemble performers will be playing double, triple and quadruple roles.
